Access Premium Pre-departure Clearance (PDC) and Data Comm Service
With the FltPlan® PDC service, jet and turboprop aircraft without datalinks can receive clearances issued for IFR flight plans via text messages. These messages also can be distributed via email, your FltPlan account under user/pilot information and the Garmin Pilot™ app for Apple® mobile devices. PDCs are available at 70 airports throughout the U.S. To enroll in PDCs, sign up here For aircraft with compatible Garmin datalinks, FltPlan offers FAA Data Comm service that includes en route and terminal airspace communications via controller-pilot datalink communications (CPDLC). Pilots can send their flight information to air traffic control from the flight deck. Controllers respond via digital text messages with route details, departure clearance information and approvals. At select airports where CPDLC departure clearance service is not available, PDCs are included in our FAA Data Comm subscription at no additional charge.

Increase the Accuracy of Your Fuel-burn Calculations
For the most accurate fuel-burn calculations, make certain your aircraft is entered in your account (Main Menu > Settings > Edit Aircraft List) and the correct aircraft model is selected. FltPlan provides two different methods for calculating fuel-burn information: hourly and advanced. Hourly is the most common method. For example, the first hour you might burn 1,900 lbs, the second hour 1,700 lbs and the third hour 1,600 lbs. To enter these values, go to Main Menu > Settings > A/C Performance, select your aircraft, and fill in the information. Advanced fuel-burn calculation accounts for your cruise altitude and other factors, and it’s much more accurate than the hourly method. You can configure your account to show one or both methods. FltPlan fuel calculations will take into consideration winds aloft and altitude constraints for most SIDs and STARs. Advanced and hourly fuel-burn information is available for most aircraft.
