ENHANCE PRE-FLIGHT AWARENESS WITH MOS WEATHER FORECASTS

In preparation for spring and summer flying season, MOS (Model Output Statistics) weather is an important tool to our already comprehensive weather briefing, allowing pilots to view aviation-based forecasts up to four days out. MOS predictions apply statistical modeling to weather data from multiple sources – resulting in a more realistic, reliable weather forecast at over 2,000 airports in the United States.

FltPlan’s MOS forecasts are presented in an easy-to-interpret format and include ceiling, visibility, winds, temperature and possible precipitation. Access MOS forecasts on the website from the location weather page (Main Menu > Weather & NOTAMs > Full Weather, then enter an airport under Location Weather).

FLTPLAN.COM USER STORIES: FLTPLAN AND GARMIN PILOT - A PERFECT PAIR

Adam, a Dassault Falcon 2000LX pilot, likes how Garmin Pilot and FltPlan streamline his company’s day-to-day operations. Here’s what he had to say:

“Our typical mission is employee transport between our offices and facilities. Most missions are domestic and are about 2.5 hours.

We have been using FltPlan.com for over a decade. It is an integral part of our daily operations and our one stop resource for all important flight-critical information. From planning to flying the trip, FltPlan.com gives us detailed, accurate and trusted information. Filing a flight plan is painless, easy and often takes less than a minute. We can easily customize who gets alerts, including EDCTs, for desired airports. When in flight, we rely on the navlogs for access to mission critical information.

FltPlan.com integrates perfectly with Garmin Pilot, which has been a game changer in the cockpit. Being able to seamlessly integrate XM, FIS-B and internet weather products along with graphical NOTAMs and airspace boundaries on a single map greatly increases our situational awareness. This allows us to proactively adjust our route to avoid weather, turbulence, and winds, providing a safer and more comfortable ride for our passengers. The absolute best feature of Garmin Pilot has to be how it displays traffic with Relative Motion Vectors from TargetTrend. Within a second, we can look at the Relative Motion Vector, and not only tell if they will be a conflict, but also where and when they will be a conflict. It is by far the best traffic display of any aircraft avionics manufacturer.”
