iPad FltPlan Go now Works with iLevil ADS-B Receiver

FltPlan has just added the iLevil AW ADS-B to the list of receivers compatible with FltPlan Go for iPad. Our iPad FltPlan Go app already works with four different ADS-B units: Sagetech Clarity, Dual XGPS170, Flight Data System's Pathfinder, and the SkyRadar D2/DX. Don’t get locked into an app that doesn’t allow you to choose the best ADS-B receiver for your individual needs.

To download our free iPad FltPlan Go app, go to the Apple App Store and search FltPlan or click here FltPlan Go.

For SMS Users: FltPlan’s SMS Service Allows Multiple FRATs

At FltPlan, we continue to add new features to our comprehensive SMS (Safety Management System) program. Our most recent enhancement is the addition of multiple FRATS. In other words, if you have a turbo prop and a jet, you can have two different FRATS. Now, not only is your FRAT customizable for your operation, but it’s customizable for your different aircraft as well. FltPlan’s program encompasses the full range of SMS needs and also integrates with your flight planning.

For those unfamiliar with SMS, it is a systematic approach to managing the day to day hazards and risks associated with running a safe flight operation. It also sets into place a program that engages both management and employees in the quest to constantly improve the safety of their operation. One of the byproducts is that you will soon see that enhanced safety leads to a better quality operation and a cost benefit.

While some countries (Bermuda and Cayman Islands) are requiring operators of jet aircraft and aircraft over 12,500 pounds to have SMS, others are sure to follow. If you're not already implementing SMS, it might be a good time to start considering an SMS for your company (whether large or small).

You can enroll in our SMS service by calling our Premium Services office at 731-855-8000 between the hours of 8am and 5pm Eastern Time.

FltPlan Go Now Features Free CAP Grid

CAP GridThe Civil Air Patrol (or CAP) is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. One of the missions of the Civil Air Patrol is the search and rescue of downed aircraft. For that purpose, they use a grid which breaks the U.S. down into specific regions by identifier so a local CAP squadron can search a specific, pre-defined area.

With FltPlan’s new feature, members of the Civil Air Patrol can view our online CAP Grid for initial orientation, and then use the offline version on our free iPad or Android FltPlan Go app in the air. Using our geo-referenced sectionals and the CAP Grid, a pilot can see where he is within the boundaries of his search area.

CAP Grids can be accessed on the website by going to Enroute Charts and selecting the CAP Grid option. To download them for offline use on FltPlan Go, go to Downloads > Maps > Layers > Download CAP Grid. After they have been downloaded, go to Maps > Layers > CAP Search Grid.

You can download FltPlan Go for iPad at the App Store. For Android users, visit the Google Play Store and search for FltPlan Go.

New Feature: Call Sign (Optional) Column in Aircraft Profile

If you routinely use the same call sign with a specific tail number, we just made your flight planning process one step simpler. You can now enter your call sign directly in your aircraft profile, so that whenever you create a flight plan with that aircraft, the call sign is automatically entered in the Call Sign (Optional) box.

To set your default for this feature, go to Main Menu > Settings > Edit Aircraft List. Just add your call sign into the far right column marked Call Sign (Optional).
