Major Update to FltPlan Go for iPhone
The latest update of FltPlan Go for iPhone just hit the app store, and with so many additional features, there is a lot to be said for this powerful flight planning tool. FltPlan Go for iPhone continues to grow to fit more and more of your flight planning needs.
Now, the iPhone app has been updated to include: the ability to view approaches directly on the map, customizable waypoints to define frequently flown lat/longs, an External section containing all connectable devices, and auto syncing capabilities to link your existing FltPlan.com account from your computer to your phone.
As always, FltPlan Go for iPhone is free to download from the Apple App Store. Unlike other apps, FltPlan is not a subscription service and has free downloadable U.S. and Canadian charts. There are no trial periods, no in-app purchases, and you can have unlimited devices linked to your account without any licensing fees.
FltPlan's Map Builder now Includes NCWF Weather
In the latest enhancement to FltPlan's web-based Map Builder, we now include National Convective Weather Forecast (NCWF) Weather.
NCWF Weather provides current convective hazards and 1-hour extrapolation forecasts of thunderstorm hazard locations. The hazard field and forecasts update every 5 minutes. FltPlan's Map Builder allows you to overlay the NCWF weather forecast onto the map with your route, displaying such hazards as thunderstorms, hail, lightning, tornadoes, and low-level wind shear.
To select NCWF Weather, display your map > select Weather Layers > check NCWF Weather.
If You Fly Helicopters, FltPlan has You Covered
Did you know that FltPlan's full array of services, on the website & mobile devices, includes support for helicopters? FltPlan offers digital helicopter charts, Weight & Balance for helicopters, and a multitude of heliports in our flight planning database.
FltPlan's free Weight & Balance program currently includes 30 helicopter listings, including variants, from small single-engine piston to large multi-engine turbine. The list of profiles is always growing and includes the following:
Agusta Westland 109
Agusta Westland 119
Our Weight & Balance profiles are created with user supplied Airplane Flight Manual/Pilot's Operating Handbook information. We can enter your aircraft if you provide the following information:
1. The full make and model of your aircraft.
2. Airplane diagram/dimensions. This is usually found in the front
section of the POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) or the General section of the flight manual.
3. The chart of the center of gravity envelope and CG limits from the Limitations section.
4. Fuel limitations (if any are listed) and system description. Include the fuel loading/moment table if there is one.
5. Weight & Balance section of the POH, preferably all the pages, however, we require the arm for all seats, baggage compartments, fuel tanks and any other arm for weights not listed in the BEW. Include the sample loading problem page.
6. The weight and arms or moment for the BEW. This is the page that shows the actual weight and balance of your aircraft.
Send the above information to WeightandBalance@FltPlan.com
Helicopter charts are available digitally online and in our apps. Additionally, we sell paper helicopter charts at the FltPlan.com Chart Store. Go to Store.FltPlan.com to order. U.S. paper charts are always discounted at 20% off list price.
Our flight planning database already includes a variety of heliports, and we are always willing to add more. If the helipad you use is not in our system, and it has a valid FAA identifier, please send us an email at Support@FltPlan.com
Whether you're looking for Weight & Balance, helicopter charts, or are planning your next flight, FltPlan has what you need.
