MOS Weather Added to the Website and FltPlan Go for Android

IMAGEThe addition of MOS (Model Output Statistics) weather is an important enhancement to our already comprehensive weather briefing, allowing pilots to view aviation–based forecasts for up to four days out. MOS predictions apply statistical modeling to weather data from multiple sources. The result is a more realistic, reliable weather forecast.

IMAGEIMAGE FltPlan’s MOS forecasts are presented in an easy to interpret format and include ceiling, visibility, winds, temperature, and possible precipitation. Access MOS forecasts on the website from the Location Weather Page (Main Menu > Weather & Notams > Full Weather, then enter an airport under Location Weather). MOS is also available on FltPlan Go for Android under the Maps tab (MOS button), and also on the Airports tab under MOS. Look for MOS on FltPlan Go for iOS devices in the coming weeks.

Newly Required PBCS Codes
Added to ICAO Options

PBCS (Performance–Based Communications and Surveillance) data can be used in your ICAO format flight plans on FltPlan.com. PBCS pertains to aircraft with datalink equipment, and it will become mandatory at the end of March. Add this information now so that you’re prepared for the March deadline.

To update your ICAO data, go to Main Menu > Settings > A/C ICAO Data.

IMAGEWith our Checklist tool, you can enter a checklist in your account and take it with you on your Apple , Android or Windows devices using the FltPlan Go app.

With FltPlan’s Checklist, you can see each item being checked off as it’s completed, ensuring that no step is accidentally missed.

There are additional features available with this function such as the ability to quickly transfer your checklist to other tail numbers or to another account. You can also save or print the checklist with a few simple commands. This program also features an optional voice synthesizer.

  • Once in the Checklist Menu you will see the tail numbers for each aircraft
  • Click the Add button and select the aircraft Category
  • The next screen lists existing Manufacturer’s Checklists and User Created Checklists
  • To use an existing checklist click Select; otherwise, select the Create Custom Checklist
  • Existing Checklists: If you use a Manufacturer or User Created Checklist, click View or Edit to review the list and make changes
  • Custom Checklists: Click Add New Category to begin creating your checklist
  • Name the category and click Save Category. You can then begin adding your checklist items
  • The next screen is the list of Item and Action within the category that you just selected
